null     This week, the Warren Central boys soccer team wrapped up their season with a record of 6-10-1.

     Going into sectionals, the soccer players emphasized improving their offense and perfecting their playing. Their work paid off because their record reflected some improvements from last year’s record of 3-10-3.

       Although the boys soccer team gave a good fight, they fell short in the first round of sectionals against Cathedral. Even though the team ended their season with a record of 3-9-3, they pushed through and continued to improve throughout the season.

     “The season fell short of the goals we had set,” coach Magdalinos said. “But we continued to improve and went out playing our best soccer game of the year.”

        With one win, seven losses and two ties, the boy’s team is taking every game as a lesson to improve. “If you guys didn’t see a positive outcome in these loses, you’re mistaken,” head soccer coach, Nicholas Magdalinos, said. “We learned a lot about what works and what doesn’t.”

         The team is filled with great energy on and off the field. Everyone challenges each other to do better than the last game.

        “This team is constantly encouraging each other,” said Magdalinos. “It’s a constant chatter to get better.”

It takes a special kind of team to continue to push forward despite the challenges they face. It takes a special kind of player to continue to show up, be positive, and give 100 percent effort when the efforts they give don’t always result in a desired outcome. The talent has always been there, they just needed a new mentality.

The boys soccer team is embracing the idea of the “team” before “I,” and it seems to be working. A once incohesive group of boys, is quickly becoming a well oiled machine. It is only a matter of time before this machine becomes unbeatable.

Earlier in the week the boys soccer team  took a 3-1 loss against top-ranked North Central. Senior Roger Ramirez scored the lone goal for the Warriors. “It was not the start we had hoped for; however, we learned a lot about ourselves last night,” head coach Nicholas Magdalinos said.
