“Dune: Part Two” is a sequel movie about a boy named Paul Atreides who was born with a gift to see the future before it even happens. It came out on March 1, two and a half years after “Dune: Part One” came out on October 22, 2021. With a strong cast, cool setting and mostly straightforward plot, this movie is interesting, and those who like action or science fiction will like it.
The main actors in this movie are Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya. It takes place on Caladan, where Paul Atreides, played by Timothee Chalamet, was born. “Dune: Part Two” continues 12 years later after the cliffhanger in “Dune: Part One,” as Atreides is the new emperor with more power than any person should ever have.
In the first “Dune” movie, Atredeis, a brilliant and gifted son of Lady Jessica and Duke Leto, was born into a great destiny beyond his understanding. He must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe, Arrakis, to ensure the future of his family and his people. Powerful beings fight over a special spice, a psychedelic drug called Spice Melange.
The plot of “Dune: Part Two” starts with Atreides and his mother, Lady Jessica, overcoming a Harkonnen patrol under the cover of an eclipse. He and his mother then travel to reach Sietch Tabr, where Paul and his mother Lady Jessica reconnect with their innerselves and for Paul to rethink his actions.
The “Harkonnens” are human beings, although they may not look like such. They are bald to represent their rejection of their past and a will for purity, along with their pale skin that they bleached. These movies are both centered around anti-imperialism. The “Harkonnens” only want the spice for themselves, and for them to do that they cause a war with other planets such as Arrakis.
The space setting of “Dune” is the universe being divided into a set of rival houses, all under the rule of the emperor.
“Dune: Part Two” gets to the point fairly quickly, although it is kind of hard to understand what happens in some scenes. They have a pause and just play dramatic music so viewers have to pay really close attention to what's happening in the scene. This movie contains sci-fi, adventure and much more.
People who enjoy watching “Star Wars” will most likely enjoy this movie too. “Star Wars,” just like “Dune,” takes place in a space setting, and both involve an important substance that the characters need. The spice in “Dune” is used for space travel, while Glitterstim in “Star Wars” is used for a telepathic boost and to heighten someone’s mental state. Just like Paul Atredeis, Anakin Skywalker is also important as he is believed to be the “chosen one.” Paul Atredeis is important for the future of humanity.
Many viewers will be satisfied with how the movie began and ended. It provides a lot of action, and it does a good job at displaying how the different planets interact with each other and their history for why they don't like one another. “Dune: Part Two” is available for purchase on YouTube, Apple TV and Amazon Prime Video since it’s newer, but the first movie is available on Hulu, Amazon Prime and Max with existing subscriptions.
