Superintendent Update

Good Afternoon MSD Warren Students, Parents, and Staff,

Important message for the week of February 5th.

I would like to first give a #WarrenWill shout-out to all of our Warren School Counselors as we celebrate National School Counseling Week. Our incredible counselors lead and support our students with academics, college and career development, and social and emotional support. They are an important part of how we support the whole student in Warren! Please take a minute to thank your child’s school counselor!

We are aware that recent changes to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) policies regarding schools, churches, and healthcare facilities have created uncertainty for many in our community. At the heart of our community, our schools and programs remain committed to providing a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for every student who enters our classrooms.

In MSD Warren Township, we firmly believe that every child deserves access to a high-quality educational experience in a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment. No student should have to worry about their safety while learning, and no family should have to fear that their child will face anything at school that compromises their dignity, safety, or well-being.

While MSD Warren Township Schools has not been contacted by any law enforcement agency regarding these changes, we are closely monitoring the situation and its potential impact on our students, families, and staff. To better understand and address concerns, we recently met with our Multilingual staff, family engagement liaisons, and administrators across the district to listen to the challenges our students and families may be facing. Through these discussions, we are identifying and vetting resources and support systems for those in need. Some of those resources have been added to our District website linked here

If your family has questions or requires assistance, we encourage you to reach out to your trusted adult at your child’s school or to our team at  Moorhead Community Resource Center. We are here to support you and to ensure that every student feels safe, valued, and empowered to learn.

Thank you for your continued support and investment in our Warren students, schools, and staff.

Dr. Tim Hanson, Superintendent of Schools for MSD Warren Township
