Musical lovers all over the world are ecstatic to sing their hearts out during the upcoming movie theater showings of “Hamilton,” beginning on Sept. 5.

For those who haven’t watched, “Hamilton” is a Broadway musical that tells the story of Alexander Hamilton, an American founding father. Hamilton was an immigrant with big dreams who made his way from poverty to a key figure in the American Revolution, while also being the architect of the U.S. financial system. This musical also follows his friendship with Aaron Burr, which turns into a rivalry by the end of the musical. Burr ended up shooting Hamilton in a duel after he made Burr lose the presidential election against Thomas Jefferson.

Lin-Manuel Miranda announced this big news for fans all over the world on Aug. 5 while he was on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.” This announcement comes with the fact they filmed a lot of the original cast for a theatrical release because they initially wanted to do it in 2021, but the pandemic and its restrictions made them wait it out.

In a press release announcement, the director-producer Thomas Kail stated they wanted to try to capture the feeling in the Richard Roberts Theatre during the first year on Broadway, with new footage including interviews with the cast and creators to reflect on the impact of the show, which will be a special prologue called “Reuniting the Revolution.”

Throughout this year, the cast has done many special events to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the original Broadway production, including a special invite-only performance with the original cast that doubled as a fundraiser for immigration services. The money raised was distributed to 14 different charities.
This theatrical release of “Hamilton” will expand more from the Disney+ version that was released in July 2020. They recorded this version just one year after their first Broadway production, which is also called the “pro-shot.”

Celebrating 10 years on Broadway isn't something many casts or producers can do, but this musical about the founding fathers, about how America was started and many mysteries about Alexander Hamilton's life has done big things to celebrate this achievement.
