How they are preparing for the challenge that is sectionals

Warren Baseball is preparing for the state tournament, which begins with sectionals. The team has things to work on, but believes that they can do something big during the postseason.

“The season has not gone as well as we had hoped, but there [are] still a lot of positives,” senior Gavin DeBerry said.

Even though the regular season has not gone very well, the team still has hope that they will go into sectionals stronger than ever.

“We’re trying to get everything together so we can succeed down the long road,” senior Collin Echols said.

This year, the team is very young, with a lot of up and coming talent. Coaches and fans have witnessed that all year and are ready to see how it comes into play during sectionals.

“I’m looking forward to having the younger guys come up and help out at the varsity level and to contribute in helping us make a long sectional run,” interim head coach Brian Jones said.

Warren Central Baseball has not won a sectional in a long time, and the Warriors are ready to make that change. All of the players believe that this is the year where they can make something happen.

“[At] sectionals, we’re just looking forward to shocking people,” Echols said.

Shocking people is exactly what they hope to do and think they are capable of doing. Previously, the Warriors have made noise during sectionals, but just could not get over the hump to finish it off.

“We have the talent and ability to go win games, we just have to come ready to play and good things will happen,” DeBerry said.

Overall, the team is just looking to surprise people and they have been working all year for this moment. So, on May 26th, come out and give the team some long overdue support they need to help them get out of sectionals.

“We will give quite a few teams a run for their money,” Jones said.
