“Resident Evil Village” developers and fans are eager for the eighth installment in the Resident Evil franchise. “Resident Evil Village” welcomes a new protagonist, villains, setting, and a fresh story.

     Fans and supporters expected a first person horror game with a setting that is eerie but amusing, with aspects the franchise is known for. 

     The “Resident Evil Village” demo was released April 17 and was no longer available May 7, the day of the full game release. The demo was free for Playstation 5 users. Although the “Resident Evil Village” demo was limited, there were three different sessions that players could experience before buying the full game. The first two sessions were each 30 minutes long, which offered players to explore throughout the village aspect and the castle map. The final session included the village and the castle together, allowing all players to play for a full hour. 

     In the demo, the protagonist, Ethan Winter’s daughter, had been kidnapped. Ethan began to barge through the village leading to the castle. He then meets an eight foot woman, Alcina DImitrescu, and her daughters. In order to get his kidnapped daughter, he has to get equipped with numerous weapons to survive.

     The trailer begins with the protagonist, Ethan Winters, being dragged in shackles. The camera ascends showcasing the map with fading voices. It transitions to another scene where the main villain, Alcina Dimitrescu, says “You escaped my little brother’s idiot games, did you?” One of Alcina’s servants slices Ethan’s hand open, Alcina sucks the blood out of his arm, causing Ethan to faint. Throughout the trailer, Ethan went through multiple events such as, getting attacked by a wolf and equipping himself with weapons. The trailer ends with numerous characters saying his name, following up with “Welcome Ethan.”

     “Resident Evil Village” is directed by Morimasa Sato, who has worked on “Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.” The voice actors include Todd Soley, voice actor for Ethan Winters, Katie O Hagan, who voices Mia winters, Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, voice actor for Alcina Dimitrescu.

     So far, fans have been enjoying “Resident Evil Village” and are excited to see what more is to come with the game. “Resident Evil Village” was released May 7 on Xbox One, Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Google Stadia, and Microsoft Windows.
